FUNDRAISING TIPS

EVENT DETAILS

Rancho Simi Community Park, at the amphitheater. Walker registration starts at 7:00AM. The walk starts at 8:00AM. The event ends approximately at noon.

The walk is 3 miles and takes you through the Park and surrounding areas.  Bring your beach chairs and blankets  and relax after the walk under the shady trees.

Walkers that raise at least $100 receive a goodie bag and an event T-shirt.

There will be secret roving judges during the walk awarding prizes during the walk to your canine companions.

A silent auction will run during the entire event. Bid for items and check back to ensure you're still the top bidder. Tremendous deals have been won at previous events! At the end of the event, payments are collected and auction items are distributed. Items must be picked up at the end of the event.

Fundraising prizes will be awarded and there will be a raffle for walk participants after the walk.

Event sponsors and vendors ring the amphitheater.

We do not maintain a costly facility or paid staff, so ALL monies raised at the Wag N' Walk go directly to benefiting homeless animals.

Start Early & Ask EVERYONE Don't be afraid to ask everyone you know, the worst they can say is no. Most of the time they won't! You’ll be surprised how many people are willing to help!
Groceries and stuff Make a list of places where you spend money - favorite restaurant, groceries, coffee,... Coworkers and neighbors who have asked you for donations in the past, its payback time!
Ask for a Specific Amount Tell sponsors what your average pledge amount is, and challenge them to beat it!
Answering Machine Message at the office This will alert everyone who calls you at home that you're up to something special!
Birthday coming up? Ask for donations in lieu of presents.
Garage Sale Set up a small display about the Wag N’ Walk in a prominent place. Add a short message about what you’re doing and why.
Bake Sale Host a bake sale. You can even have it in conjunction with your garage sale.
Facebook Post a message on Facebook or other social networking sites. You'd be amazed at how many people you don't know will be willing to help you.
Business Cards Print some inexpensive business cards (you can even do it on your own computer) with your registered walker name and a link to our website.
Theme Party/Dinner Hold a theme party for 10 (or more) of your friends and ask for donations.
Significant Others Ask your spouse or friends to help you collect pledges - they can’t run away :-).
The Office Don't forget Matching Gifts. Many companies will match their employees' charitable giving Ask your employer to pledge as a company
